The Challenge: Scalable Social VR
Building a VR hub requires managing a large, constantly changing environment with multiple concurrent players, all while maintaining the strict 90 frames per second minimum for comfort on Meta Quest hardware. The core challenge was achieving seamless, low-latency multiplayer functionality at scale, adhering to our Production-Grade Optimization standard.
Our Solution: Efficient Architecture and Networking
We implemented a clean code architecture and leveraged the Verified VR Player Network for continuous real-world testing and feedback loops during development. Our technical solutions included:
- Optimized Multiplayer Utilizing a reliable networking solution (Photon) for low-latency player synchronization and session management, critical for social VR.
- Performance Tuning: Deep-level scene culling, draw call reduction, and asset streaming to ensure a constant 90+ FPS performance even in dense social spaces.
- User Acquisition Loop: Integration of our exclusive Verified VR Player Network for early traction, community building, and quality assurance prior to store launch.
Results: A Featured VR Social Experience
